Description
JDM market 5-speed manual Evo IX with some tasty upgrades; Ohlins
dampers; sports exhaust; HKS intake; Walbro fuel pump; 1,000cc injectors; new
hybrid turbo from Owen Developments; 436Bhp re-map; showing 109,544Km (68,067
miles)
Dating from May 2005 this rather handsome
and brutish looking Mitsubishi Lancer is of course, a full blood Evolution
variant, a 9th Generation Evo IX and is a JDM spec (Japanese Domestic
Market) example imported and registered in the UK in September
2021.
Finished in Black with typical big rear
wing (eagle-eyed viewers may notice this is the wing off an earlier Evo VII, the
vendor preferring the style, although he has an Evo IX wing should the buyer
prefer) and a set of Rota alloy wheels finished in black with an offset that
really fills the arches giving the car great presence particularly with the lime
green Brembo calipers visible behind.
On the roof we note fitment of a carbon-effect rear vortex to stabilise
the air flow over the roof.
Under the
bonnet, we find the legendary 2.0 litre 4G63 inline-four-cylinder engine with
MIVEC (variable valve timing) which is turbocharged. In stock spec they pump out c.287Bhp and
392NM of torque driving all-four wheels via five- or six-speed transmission
depending on the variant.
Under the bonnet of
this car we see some automotive pornography with the beautifully made TIG-welded
stainless steel high-flow after-market Prostock exhaust manifold and sports
exhaust system; upgraded radiator; upgraded intercooler; HKS performance air
filter and polished hardpipe intake; high-flow 340 fuel pump; bigger 1,000cc
injectors and a recently fitted Hybrid Turbo from Owen Developments. Along with
a re-map by GR Performance, the car is reputed to develop 422Bhp on low
boost and 436Bhp on high boost, the maps selectable via the intercooler spray
rocker button in the centre console as is typical with re-mapped
Evos.
Power is sent to all four wheels via
five-speed manual transmission (traditionally a stronger box than the six-speed
unit) and twin-plate racing clutch. The suspension has been upgraded with
Ohlins adjustable dampers (not cheap!) and lowered Apex Performance sport
springs.
Inside, we find grippy Recaro bucket
seats in half leather and half vinyl, upgraded Pioneer door speakers/tweeters,
recently installed CD/DAB player with touch-screen and Bluetooth, air con,
electric windows, electric mirrors, intercooler spray and AYC for
tarmac/gravel/snow.
The car presents well and
shows 109,544Km (68,067 miles) with just one former UK keeper prior to our
vendor who has loved the car for the last year spending money on it, keeping it
looking as good as it does.
The history file
includes the V5C, selection of bills, one old MOT, the locking wheel nut key,
import docs and the current MOT, valid until January 2024 recording no
advisories.
Bills of note include a service in
March 2023 at 103,320Km, fuel pump hardwire kit from Feb-23, bill for fitment of
the Hybrid Turbo, alloy radiator, performance down-pipe and LPFP in May-23,
fitment of the upgrade Pioneer bits in April-23, bill from Owen Developments for the
upgrade turbo (£1,466) in July-23, bill for the re-map by GR Performance and
supply of a three-port boost solenoid in September-23, bill for replacement AYC
diff and pump oil plus gearbox oil in October-23, new exhaust manifold gasket,
lowering springs and recent four-wheel alignment.
The file also includes a recent dyno print-out dated September-23
and photos from when the car was sold in a specialist Japanese car auction
before coming to the UK along with a useful vehicle history info sheet
confirming the car’s data and, most importantly, the Japanese service dates and
Km which back up the car’s indicated mileage.
Ready to be enjoyed, this is a seriously fast and
capable machine with some choice recent upgrades which have seen some
sweet power gains with more no doubt possible if you wish to continue down that
path.
