Description
From a deceased estate; genuine factory-built Convertible; effectively
three owners from new; truly vast file of invoices; good running
order
First registered
in April 1969, this Snowberry White Morris Minor 1000 is a genuine factory-built
Convertible with the correct MAT chassis prefix and has effectively had just
three owners from new.
It was first owned by a
Miss Hilda Davies of Sheffield who bought it from Morris dealers Kennings Ltd,
the original purchase invoice showing that it cost her the princely sum of
£706.15 including £25 for 12 months road tax.
She was to keep it for the next 22 years, finally selling it to a Mr
MJ Evans of Sheffield in February 1991 who was to keep it for the next 33 years.
It comes with a truly vast file of invoices to
show regular upkeep over the years, including a full restoration by The Morris
Minor Centre of Bath in 1980 when the engine was also rebuilt, the mileage at
this point being c.40,000.
Mr Evans also spent
loads of money on the car, including another bodywork restoration in 1993 with
all new wings etc, plus a cylinder head rebuild in 2007 and a new gearbox in
2008 at c.64,000 miles.
Our vendor acquired the
car in March 2024 as a project to keep him busy in his retirement, intending to
restore it to pristine condition but sadly passed away before he could get round
to this task. Now with 72,790 miles on the clock, the V5C shows three former
keepers because it was put into the name of his wife shortly before the
auction.
As you can see in the photos, it has
deteriorated somewhat in recent years but has been starting promptly and running
well as we have moved it around on site. The history file is one of the largest
we have ever seen so it has clearly been well-loved in the
past.
On offer here at a modest guide price it
appears quite usable as it is and could be smartened up over time as
desired.
