ex-military Land Rover Series III Lightweight; MOT and Tax
exempt
First registered in 1981, this
ex-military Land Rover Series III Lightweight retains its original 24-volt
electrical system, radio equipment and a number of military-specification
features. Finished in military-style Matt Green, the vendor informs us that the
Land Rover was originally presented in camouflage colours before being
refinished in its current shade.
The vehicle retains much of
its purposeful military character, including the internal framework and
equipment fittings, together with replacement canvas tilt and door tops. We are
advised that the brakes have been refurbished and a new clutch cylinder
fitted.
The odometer currently shows
92,000 miles, although this mileage cannot be verified. The Land Rover is MOT
exempt and runs and drives as expected while on site for photos and a short
video.
Little is known regarding its
specific military service history, although the original chassis plate remains
in situ and the relevant owners' club may be able to provide further information
regarding its origins.
An appealing example of the
iconic military Lightweight, offering the opportunity for continued use, further
restoration or preservation in its current form. With its distinctive military
specification and utilitarian character, it would make an interesting addition
to any Land Rover or military vehicle collection.
