Ford Cortina Lotus MkII

Believed to be mostly an original MkII, apart from front wings, door cards, exhaust and recently fitted new steering rack; owned by current keeper for a few years after being part of a large private collection in Italy; absolutely must be viewed

So, an original Mk II Lotus Cortina, I hear you say. Well, the vendor believes that most of this one is. We are not claiming every little bit is, as that would be careless, but surprisingly it does appear that a lot of UPO 99F is as it should be. It should also be pointed out that this is not one of those extensive restorations that looks like a new car. Its appeal is exactly the opposite; a surviving, slightly worn around the edges, sporty beast from the late 1960s.
First registered in November 1967, it is recorded as having had four previous UK keepers. The initial few owners are not known but the third seems to have acquired the car in 1987, having had a MOT done on it while 8,006 miles were showing (copy of MOT in file). A short time later that year, it changed keepers again and eventually ended up being exported to Italy in, we think, 1989. Residing in a large private Italian collection for many years, presumably being kept indoors and dry. At one point during this period, the vendor believes that the front wings, exhaust system and door cards were replaced.
Repatriated to the UK by our vendor in about 2017, it was reunited with its original registration of UPO 99F and had some recommissioning done.  Shock absorbers, outer and inner track rod ends and full clutch kit were all replaced. After this, a slightly later type steering box was also fitted. It last passed an MOT in 2017 and has not been used regularly recently so is sure to need some light work to get it back on the road.
A much admired Lotus Cortina, and after being closely crawled all over at shows, all remarks made to our vendor have been impressively positive. The V5C unfortunately, does not state the engine number but the block is stamped 9676LBA and we can confirm that the chassis number on the paperwork certainly matches the relatively new chassis plate but also appears to match the stamped number on the inner wing.  Make an appointment to come and have a look and a crawl yourself.
