1974 Triumph TR6

U.S. origin example in very presentable condition; lots to like about this TR6 which is well worth close inspection

Believed to date from January 1974 this LHD U.S. spec TR6 features the proven 2.5 litre straight-six engine and, as a U.S. car comes with carbs rather than fuel injection.

Finished in green with an eye-catching white central stripe and attractive 15-inch centre knock wire wheels, the car looks like it’s ready to embark on an epic European road rally adventure just standing still. Underneath looks to have been fully protected in stone-chip/corrosion protective material which should give good protection against the salted roads and poor weather.

Starting promptly as we moved it around for these shots, the paint work is good, the brightwork shiny and the black vinyl interior in fine fettle showing just 56,902 miles. We note a modern Sony face-off radio CD player has been fitted.

The history file includes only a copy of the V5C (V5C enroute to us) showing just 1 owner since import and registration in September 2019. Obviously, MOT exempt, the car has not been presented for an MOT in the UK since arrival. In the boot, we find a mallet for undoing the centre knock wheels and useful tonneau cover.

Under the ‘hood’ we find a neat and tidy engine bay with the addition of steel braided hoses replacing most of the standard rubber piping, fitment of a pair of modern conical air filters and uprated yellow HT leads.

Evidently the subject of much care, the car looks to want for nothing but regular use and a new owner.

The vendor has since provided the following information:

"Purchased through a friend in New Mexico who searched it out to order as an unrestored , rust free , excellent example of an appreciating classic. New Mexico is one of the driest states in USA so it has seen very little rain in its life. It was imported to the UK, registered  and then taken to Portugal where the owners had become citizens, as their dream car. Unfortunately , new Brexit rules meant importing to Portugal became economically unviable and it is therefore being very reluctantly sold"
