  • Plant & Machinery Telehandler Driver

    Madley (HR2), HR2 9NH

    Duties include:
    • The Job
      •    Loading and unloading machinery on and off lorries
      •    Operating a telehandler to load and move implements and machinery (training will be given)
      •    Light mechanical work, jump starting equipment
      •    Assisting customers and others around the yard with moving, loading & unloading
      •    Monitor, report and uphold all Health & Safety legislation and processes on site
      •    The Person
      This role is an active, outdoor job and requires someone with the ability to operate all types of heavy equipment and trucks (training will be given). You must be willing to assist on a range of tasks and help a number of members of the tight team in which you will be working. You will be required to work outdoors in all weathers as well as being physically fit to climb on and off machinery. If you have a knowledge of heavy plant, construction or agricultural equipment, then we especially want to hear from you.
       
      The Requirements
      •    Ideally you should be an experienced Yard Worker or Machine Operator with a 'can do' attitude
      •    You must be a strong team player
      •    Ability to take instruction as well as work on own initiative and follow Health & Safety legislation
      •    Strong English skills
      •    Previous experience is desirable but not essential
      •    Mechanical experience or skills will be a benefit

  • Plant & Machinery: Auction Assistant

    Madley (HR2), HR2 9NH

    Duties include:

    The Job
    The role of auction assistant is where many of our senior leadership team have started their careers. This role has fantastic potential for the candidate who is willing to go above and beyond in their day to day working life. No experience is needed & full training will be given in all aspects of the job. What is essential is a keen interest in used machinery and auction sales.
    •    Assisting the auction cataloguers & photographers where necessary
    •    Moving hand tools pre and post-sale
    •    Handing out purchased lots from purchaser’s pass outs
    •    Occasionally assisting with moving trucks & machinery around our auction site
    •    Assisting the office admin staff where necessary
    •    Assisting with sale day activities including speaking to customers about potential offers on machinery, potential future entries or equipment and reserve prices

    The Person
    This role will be split between being outdoors, and in the office ensuring the website & our online catalogues are up to date. The role requires someone with a positive “can-do” attitude who is happy to help anyone and everyone on site to get the job done. You will be required to work outdoors in all weathers as well as being physically fit to climb on and off machinery. 
    Knowledge & a keen interest in heavy plant/mining/quarry/farming/trucking equipment is a huge positive as you will be seeing a lot of it!
    Interest in professional auction services is desirable.

    About the Role
    As Yard Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and organised management of the intake and dispatch of approximately:
    •    500+ items of plant equipment and HGVs, and
    •    1,500–2,000 lots of small plant and tools
    ...in preparation for 2–3 major online auctions each month.
    This is a hands-on, leadership role requiring operational oversight, people management, and a strong focus on health and safety.

    Key Responsibilities
    •    Ensure full compliance with and continuous improvement of Health & Safety protocols
    •    Lead and motivate a team to achieve operational efficiency
    •    Provide excellent customer service and represent Brightwells professionally on site
    •    Oversee the safe use of telehandlers and forklifts, including staff training and coordination
    •    Maintain detailed and accurate records of all machinery and tool movements
    •    Manage logistical flow with a strong understanding of HGV and transport operations
    •    Apply in-depth knowledge of construction plant and agricultural machinery
    •    Collaborate with other department managers to optimise use of company resources
    •    Support and deliver internal staff training programmes
