Dating from September 2003 this earlier R230 series SL350 features the 245bhp 3.7-litre V6 engine driving the rear wheels via 5-speed automatic/tiptronic transmission. It is finished in Iridium silver/blue riding on its original 17inch 7-spoke alloy wheels with matching blue leather interior and brushed aluminium trim.

Showing just 73,702 miles in the hands of its 4 owners, the car presents well. Inside, we find the typically well-appointed cockpit, featuring acres of leather, electric heated memory seats with electric lumbar adjustment, Comand in-car entertainment and sat nav, dual zone climate control, electric folding mirrors, windows, cruise control, automatic lights with wash and phone cradle with Bluetooth.

In addition, the SL features the clever folding metal roof, although when we attempted to lower the roof for photos, it refused to fully operate and got stuck half way down so we put it back up via the in-car switch – one to note and have looked into.

The car has worn its 17 years and 73k well, with the expected age marks to the interior and both rear arches which show some minor signs of corrosion coming through on the edges - not uncommon with the R230 series of this era.

Within the history file, we find the V5C showing 3 former keepers, the book pack and two service books recording 9 stamps across the pair, the last in June 2020 at 73,621 miles – but a handful ago which included gearbox oil and filter, discs and pads, 4 new tyres and a new main battery (the R230 has two) and current MOT valid until June 2022 which recorded 3 advisories including registration lamp defective and brake pipes corroded or covered in grease, both sides, front.

In addition, we find a VOSA MOT history print-out, invoice for the last stamped service and other sundry bills for routine maintenance and parts and at least 6 old MOT certificates.
