1986 Citroen 2CV
Early crinkle bonnet body
with hammock seats on a later galvanised chassis and 602cc power; the
perfect combination?
Dating from June 1987 this
lovable 2CV appears to have been rebuilt using a galvanised chassis and features
a few other choice changes to make it look like an earlier model 2CV with ripple
bonnet (as fitted pre-1960) with side louvres and front crash
bars.
Inside, we find the more traditional and supremely comfortable
hammock style seating in burgundy to match the canvas roll back roof and carpets
too.
Under the bonnet sits the 1980-1990 602cc air-cooled 2-cyinder
engine, thus giving potentially, the best of all worlds – more power and
classic looks. The bodywork looks sound enough with scope for some cosmetic
improvements (see images) with the current MOT highlighting 6 minor points
worthy of correction (see check-mot.history.gov.uk. and enter the reg).
Within the history file, we find just the V5C showing 5-former keepers
to the current lady of 6 years and current MOT valid until 22nd December
2021.
Thus, an attractive 2CV with scope for improvement, but eminently
usable just as it is with enough patina to make it ‘cool’. It offers
the opportunity to leave as is or tinker over the coming winter months to
your hearts content.
