Description
Restored in
the early 1990s around a new Heritage Shell; restored again in 2004 including
rebuilt engine and only 20k miles since; overdrive; chrome wire wheels; new
tyres; recent major service; ready to enjoy
First registered in Birmingham in October 1972, this super MGB
Roadster comes with a vast history file back to 1982 which will keep the next
owner happily engrossed for hours.
In 1991/92 it
was completely rebuilt around a new Heritage Shell supplied by The MGB Hive of
Wisbech. This included a full mechanical overhaul (engine; gearbox; overdrive;
brakes; steering; suspension etc), an interior retrim and a new hood, bills on
file amounting to some £10,000 – a big chunk of money back then.
The cylinder head was rebuilt and converted for
unleaded petrol in 1999 at 6,320 miles.
In
2003/04 it was restored once again with many new parts fitted. The engine was
also rebuilt with new pistons etc; new carbs; radiator; Kenlowe fan; brakes;
soft top; chrome wire wheels plus much else besides, the mileage at this point
being c.6,500.
There are dozens of invoices for
subsequent upkeep and servicing, the car having an agreed insurance value of
£15,000 in 2011 when it was showing c.20k miles and it has only covered about
5,000 miles since.
Our vendor acquired the car in
2020 and has continued to look after it well, covering just a few hundred fine
weather miles and keeping it mainly tucked away in a nice dry garage. In April
2021 it had a full service and tune-up including a new camshaft chain and
tensioner. A new alternator and a new set of Toyo tyres were also fitted, the
bill for this lot coming to over £1,750.
As you
can see in the photos, this MGB looks most attractive and has been starting
promptly and running well as we have moved it around on site, with healthy 60psi
oil pressure.
