An opportunity to own a rare and unique one owner car;
38,000 miles; UK supplied; thought to be one of only seven remaining cars on the
road in the UK today
Unusually
for a German Ford model, this 1,797cc V6-engined Ford Taunus M20 (P7b) was
registered in the UK from new, rather than being subsequently imported. It was
purchased new in September
1973 from Bristol Street Motors in Birmingham and was used daily until December
1980. The vendor then became ill and was undergoing treatment preventing him
from driving.
When he was fit again the Taunus couldn’t be moved due to the clutch
plate seized to the flywheel. The car then stayed in his garage for about 10
years, until Dudley Technical Collage had an advert in the newspaper offering
car repairs to the general public by apprentices. The vendor got in touch and
the car was collected and put back on the road.
On the first journey out and about the car broke down and had to be
collected by the AA and taken back home.
Eventually the vendor got touch with a well-respected classic car
restorer in Shropshire to look at and carried out repairs to the car in 2017,
unfortunately the vendor became ill again and it stayed in storage with them
until the present day.
The vendor informed
us that he thinks there was only 42 cars registered in the UK, and it is said
only seven have survived today.
This car,
only having 38,835 miles on the clock and one owner from new has got to be one
of the rarest opportunities to own a very unique car.
Paperwork with the Taunus includes the V5C, 10 previous MOTs and a
large file showing some of the history of the car (service books etc), also a
large amount of spares collected by the vendor have been left in the boot for
the next owner to help keep the car running and driving as it currently
does.
The front wings are suffering from some
rust, but the rest of the car looks in fairly good shape for the year, starting
and driving while its been onsite for a video and
photographs.
