Launch
edition brochure yellow; showing only 42,454 miles; fantastic capable urban
classic
The
Volvo 66 GL Estate is a compact, three-door station wagon produced from 1975 to
1980.
Based on the DAF 66 platform, it features a 1.3L inline-four engine
and a Variomatic continuously variable transmission, offering smooth and
efficient driving. Its rear-wheel-drive layout and De Dion rear axle provide
stable handling, while Volvo’s safety enhancements like reinforced bumpers,
collapsible steering column, and inertia-reel seatbelts set it apart from
competitors, the GL trim adds comfort touches. With practical cargo space and a
durable build, the 66 GL Estate is a quirky yet capable
urban classic.
This
example was first registered in January 1976 and is showing as only seven
previous keepers, having been with the vendor since 2020. Seen here in launch
edition brochure yellow.
Showing
only 42,454 miles, but the vendor reports that the speedometer stopped working
on the journey to the sale.
Bought in Dec 2020 by the
vendor as they needed an automatic because of a shoulder problem. It was then
used daily for several months for 70-mile round trip commute. Since then, it’s
also been on several 300-mile trips.
The vendor informs us It’s
had a replacement Volvo B14 engine at some point and has had the following
repairs over the last five years:
Replacement secondary drive unit, new
belts, carb rebuild, welding to rear chassis legs behind bumper, cavity waxing,
wiring loom faults corrected, vacuum system overhaul, gear selector overhaul and
adjust, rear driveshaft boots, recon brake master cylinder, steering column
bushes, joint and a reconditioned steering rack.
The
paperwork includes the current V5C, two brochures and spares as pictured in the
boot, driven over 100 miles to the sale.
