An
original example of the beloved Series III; petrol-powered, four-cylinder;
garaged regularly for the last 44 1/2 years; always used and enjoyed;
presented exactly as is a 2-owner faithful friend
This 1971 model has been with its current keeper since March 1981,
representing nearly 44 1/2 years of continuous ownership. While the V5C
shows four registered keepers, the actual ownership history is more
straightforward. The original buyer sold the car to the current vendor, who
later purchased a private number plate. At that time, the DVLA required the
vehicle to be temporarily registered in the name of the plate’s seller to
facilitate the transfer, before being immediately re-registered in the vendor’s
name. As such, the car has effectively had just two owners from new: the
original purchaser and the current vendor—whose name appears twice due to the
plate transfer, which is a
testament to its honest history.
Accompanied by 30 old MOT certificates, two Leyland workshop manuals,
and a substantial file of receipts and invoices documenting its extensive
service history, all of which support the indicated mileage of 110,334 as
genuine.
It has seen regular use and remains running and starting on site.
While it would benefit from cosmetic attention, its patina and originality will
appeal to purists – or simply leave it as-is and keep enjoying it just as the
previous owners have.
An increasingly rare opportunity to acquire an
unmolested, characterful Series III with a known history and hopefully decades
of life left in it.
