Pampered non-sunroof 205 Junior converted to race/rally spec; tuned
1.6 GTi 8v engine; Quaife LSD; roll cage; lots of spares; lots of
fun!
First registered
in February 1987, this Peugeot started out in life as a humble 205 Junior with a
954cc engine and has had just five owners to date. The first owner kept the car
up until December 2010 (nearly 24 years) by which time it had covered some 68k
miles and been serviced 21 times which equates to an average service interval of
just 3,200 miles.
With all that pampering, one
imagines that it must have been an unusually smart and well-preserved example.
Being a Junior, it would have had soft suspension and a weedy engine so it would
have been driven sedately, meaning that the body shell would remain in much
better shape than on a GTi, whose stiffer suspension, more powerful engine and
‘boy racer appeal’ inevitably puts far more stress on the chassis. Added to
that, it was a ‘non-sunroof’ model so it was perhaps inevitable that it would
eventually attract the attention of the racing fraternity.
It isn’t clear when it was converted to its current race/rally spec,
but the Luke FIA-approved racing harnesses say ‘Not valid after 2014’ so we
imagine it was probably a year or two before that date. The full spec of the car
is too detailed to go into here, but it is all spelled out in a sheet in the
history file which is shown in the last two photos.
The car comes with a large quantity of spares (including the original
interior) which are all included in the sale, although they will need to be
collected from the Market Drayton area (see photos).
Starting promptly and running well as we have moved it around on
site, this juiced-up Pug looks like a lot of fun and would make a nice
entry into motorsport for someone.
It is also road legal with an MOT
until June 2026 (with no advisories recorded) so you could drive it to and from
events with no need for a trailer – or just use it to liven up those tedious
trips to the supermarket! Go on, you know it makes sense…
