Well-presented GT with a
large history file from new; overdrive; stainless steel exhaust; polybushed
suspension; good tyres; regularly
serviced; driven 100 miles to the sale
A well-presented
and clearly cherished MGB GT, accompanied by a comprehensive history file from
new. Equipped with overdrive, a stainless steel exhaust, polybushed suspension,
and good tyres, the car has been regularly serviced and was driven approximately
100 miles to the sale.
According to the Heritage
Certificate, this MGB GT was built in July 1980, finished in Pageant Blue with a
Silver/Grey interior, and specified with overdrive and Rostyle wheels. It is one
of the final examples produced before the closure of the Abingdon factory later
that year. The car was first registered in February 1981 by Ivor F Miles Ltd of
Haddenham, Buckinghamshire.
The odometer currently reads
89,231 miles, which is believed to be correct, and the car has had six former
keepers. Its condition reflects careful ownership and consistent maintenance,
supported by a substantial file of invoices.
Recent mechanical
work includes the replacement of numerous components such as front coil springs,
front brake calipers, discs and pads, rear brake drums and shoes, clutch kit,
oil cooler kit, radiator, electric cooling fan, water pump, electronic ignition,
sports coil, wiring harness, stub axles and trunnions, headlamps, and polybushed
suspension, among others.
In September 2023, further
improvements were carried out including new front seat foams, underbonnet
insulation, tailgate seal, and door mirrors. The car was also serviced, with
carburettors tuned and ignition timing set. Since then, it has covered only a
few hundred miles, additional features include a
stainless steel exhaust system and a Blaupunkt Frankfurt
radio.
The car presents very well
throughout, both cosmetically and structurally, with only minor microblistering
visible in isolated areas of the paintwork. Having been driven to the sale, it
has proven to start readily and run smoothly, maintaining a healthy oil pressure
of around 50psi.
