Description
Comprehensive bare shell restoration
finished in Tweed grey: low mileage Metro 1,275cc engine and
gearbox fitted, correctly registered on the V5C; equally at home as a city
runabout or a spirited competition machine.
Launched in 1959, the Mini quickly became one
of Britain’s most influential small cars, combining Alec Issigonis’s ingenious
packaging with lively handling and a character that transcended generations. Its
motorsport success — from rally stages to clubman autotests — cemented its
reputation as a giant-killer, and today the classic Mini
remains one of the most engaging and adaptable small cars on the road, equally
at home as a city runabout or a spirited competition
machine.
This
1992 Rover Mini has been extensively restored and built as a rally-style replica, powered by a
desirable 1,275cc engine. The restoration, completed in 2020, was
comprehensive with virtually every panel replaced apart from the upper
boot, roof and bulkhead, all of which were wax-treated. The result is a purposeful,
well-prepared Mini with a strong visual
presence and
no corrosion worries.
The rebuild included new front and rear
subframes, all new joints, adjustable trumpets, new cones and braided brake
hoses. A new windscreen was fitted along with all new window, door and boot
rubbers. Inside, the rear seats were re-trimmed, a rally-style steering wheel installed, and
a bolt-in full roll cage added. Wrap-around winged rally seats and
inertia rally belts complete the competition-inspired cabin.
The engine was replaced around 2015
with a low-mileage 1,275cc Metro unit showing
only 14,000 genuine miles at the time. It benefits from electronic ignition, a
new alternator, a new clutch and a Mini Sport three-branch heated manifold.
New
12-inch alloy wheels and tyres were
fitted, along with new brake pipes and braided hoses. Spot lamps are included,
with wiring harness and relay supplied but not yet
connected.
The
colour change to 60s inspired Tweed grey and engine change are both
correctly recorded on the V5C. The car carries an advisory-free MOT valid until September 2026.
Thousands of pounds have been invested in the restoration, but lack of use now
prompts sale.
A
lively and extensively restored Mini with a desirable 1,275cc engine and numerous
rally-inspired upgrades. With added safety
features and a purposeful stance, it would make an entertaining road-rally car or simply a fun
characterful classic to enjoy.
