Ford
Thames Pick-Up; Bright Red;
Aquaplane-Equipped 1172cc
engine; restored around six years ago; great sign-written
look
Finished in bright red and
looking wonderfully period with its removable sign-writing, this 1957
Ford Pick-Up is a charming
survivor of the post-war British
commercial scene. The current V5C records only six former keepers, suggesting
long-term, careful
ownership over nearly seven decades.
Under the bonnet sits the
upgraded 1172cc side-valve engine,
fitted with the desirable Aquaplane inlet manifold and twin SU carburettors
— a classic period tuning setup that
gives these little Ford commercials a welcome lift in both performance and
character. Paired with the standard running gear, it remains a simple, honest
and highly usable vintage truck.
Restored and repainted around
six years ago, the pick-up still presents
extremely well, the bright red finish suiting it perfectly. The wooden bed and
side panels are in great condition, adding to the truck’s visual appeal and authenticity.
The sign-writing is applied
as decals, so can be removed easily should the next owner prefer a cleaner
look.
A delightful example of the
1950s Ford commercial, this pick-up combines
upgraded mechanicals, strong cosmetic presentation and a wonderfully nostalgic
presence on the road. With its lively Aquaplane-tuned engine, tidy
bodywork and charming period details, it is ready to be enjoyed
immediately.
