1973, this attractive MGB Roadster is finished in Flame Red with a black mohair
hood, black leather (or leatherette) interior and Minilite-style alloy wheels.
Powered by the 1,798cc B-Series engine with the desirable overdrive gearbox, it
has clearly been cherished in recent years, having been dry stored and
reportedly never driven in the rain.
Accompanying the car is an
excellent history file including the V5C, Heritage Letter, owner's handbook,
workshop manual, MG parts catalogue, numerous old MOT certificates and a large
collection of invoices documenting work carried out over the
years.
Between 2010 and 2012, the car
underwent an extensive restoration. The engine was rebuilt and converted for
unleaded fuel, the carburettors refurbished, while the body received substantial
structural repairs including new floor pans, sills, crossmember, rear valance,
door skins and castle sections before being professionally refinished. The
underside was treated with stone-chip protection, and the brakes, suspension,
wiring, fuel and brake lines were all overhauled. New carpets, a quality mohair
hood, replacement brightwork, Minilite-style wheels and new tyres completed the
restoration.
Further enhancements include a
Kenlowe electric cooling fan, while the overdrive operates correctly in both
third and fourth gears. Also included are both a full tonneau cover and hood
stowage cover.
Now tax and MOT exempt, the
car was last MOT tested in May 2023, passing without advisories and recording
47,023 miles (milage cannot be verified). Showing only minor age-related
blemishes, it remains a smart, well-presented example that drives exactly as it
should.
