1972 Triumph Stag

90,000 miles showing; better than average example which needs some light recommisioning and regular use; modern addition of JPS livery

Sadly very little is known about the early life of this Stag, but it had seven recorded keepers between 1976 and 1985! It has of course had a few more since and our mechanically minded vendor has had it for the last four years.

We believe that it was restored around 10 years ago although there are no invoices for this on file. Memory serves that although a considerable amount of work was done including mechanics and bodywork, something stalled the restoration late on, possibly in the way of a divorce, so there were jobs that were not finished or just quickly completed. It was then put into storage and not touched for some time.

The current owner got his hands on GPP 4K in 2017 with the intention of properly finishing the job. Time has however got the better of him, and not being well has delayed work further. That said, a mechanic by trade, he did spend close to £4,000 on parts and other peoples time investigating and sorting various issues, which ended with him rebuilding parts of the engine, replacing valves, gaskets and a water pump etc. It also comes with a handy towbar supplied but not fitted.

Running and driving, with a bit of a knack to starting, it still has plenty of potential and the hood, we are told, is waterproof, although a little tatty on the inside. The chrome will also need some work if you like a perfect example, but it looks like an opportunity to bag yourself a use and improve Stag with lots already done - well worth a close inspection.
