1978 Austin Morris Mini Clubman

Barn-find example from long term ownership ripe
for restoration; 1,098cc engine and other period features; just 3 owners from
new
Dating from December 1978 this Austin Morris
era Mini Clubman has sat hidden away since at least 2012 when our last owner
took ownership.
Finished in blue with grey cloth interior, the shell
looks to have suffered in the usual Mini areas but to many, the appeal is that
all the parts are available and there isn’t anything about Mini’s that isn’t
know by someone, somewhere such is the loyal and devoted following of the
marque.
Showing 49,045 miles there’s no supporting history to
substantiate this, but given the number of years its been standing, it could be
genuine. A quick search online shows the last tax was due in December 1991, but
was not SORN’d which may require an explanatory letter to DVLA.Within the
history file, we find just the V5C showing only 2 previous owners, the current
since 2012 and prior to that the last ownership change was in May
1981.
Under the bonnet resides the proven 1,098cc A-series engine which
we have not attempted to start given the car’s state and how long it has been
stood – clearly this Clubman requires a degree of restoration and
recommissioning but does roll freely. It looks a prime candidate given what
restored variants are fetching now.
