1992 Saab 900i Cabriolet

Reserve
Honest example bought by our lady vendor new
with electric hood (replaced a few years ago) with tan leather interior and
manual 'box
Ordered new through Tarbuk Saab of
Wien, Austria in June 1992 and imported Duty free to the UK through the United
Nations Transfer of Residence (TOR) facility in August 1993 this sole
family-owned Saab 900i Cabriolet was bought new by our lady vendor whilst
working for UNIDO (part of the UN) in Austria during the early 90s returning to
the UK with her in ’93.
She enjoyed the car for
many years before transferring ownership to her son in 2013 who used the car
lightly for the next 7 years before it transferred back to his mother, the
original owner again in 2020 for her to enjoy once again.
Finished in Blue, the car boasts a black Mohair roof and sits upon
its original 15” X-spoke alloy wheels and presents fairly given its 30 years old
and has covered 162,816 miles.
Starting promptly, the car moved around as it should for these images and
video with only the engine management light illuminated at the time of
consignment, with the electric folding roof also working as it
should.
Under the bonnet, according to the V5C
is the naturally aspirated 2,119cc four-cylinder petrol engine which would be
engine code B212 developing 138bhp, however, the log book states engine code
B202 suggesting it to be the naturally aspirated 1,985cc engine developing
128bhp which is the code recorded on all the original import documentation. The drive is put to the road via
five-speed manual transmission driving the front wheels.
Inside, we find soft tan leather interior with some wear evident to
the driver’s seat covered by tape, walnut trim, electric windows, electric
mirrors, electric roof, heated rear window, Phillips radio/cassette player and
height adjustable headlights.
The history file
includes the V5C confirming the two former keepers as detailed, the owner's pack
with manual, service booklet with 21 stamps, the last in July-10 at 149,511
miles with one further hand-written entry in October-12 at 155,858 miles noting
a major service and new discs and a ream of old bills for parts and maintenance
plus documentation relating to its initial order, declarations,
correspondance and import along with 12 old MOTs.
Within the
ream of old bills dating back to 1999, we found confirmation of the most
recent service in December 2021 at 162,063 miles for an annual service
including new spark plugs plus additional coolant change in the same
month along with two new rear brake callipers in June-21, a new clutch and
slave cylinder in April-21 at a cost of some £714 alone and a further £520 spent
on hydraulic roof replacement parts and repairs in August 2020. A new
Mohair hood was fitted in 2002 at a cost of £1,000 which is no doubt good news
for the next owner.
The car’s current MOT is valid December 2023 with ten
advisories noted that the next owner might wish to attend to help future proof
the car’s value (enter the reg at check-mot.service.gov.uk). The MOT history
shows the car has only covered c.7,000 miles over the last ten
years.
