1972 MGB GT
Recently recommissioned following
a period in storage; unleaded cylinder head; stainless steel exhaust;
eye-catching colour!
First
registered in July 1972, this rather eye-catching MGB GT was originally orange
but has been repainted to a good standard in metallic blue at some point in the
not-too-distant past, a colour which suits it well.
Lots of invoices show regular upkeep throughout the 1990s. In 2002
it had a major bout of expenditure at The Bristol MG Workshop which included an
overhaul of the brakes and suspension, a replacement prop shaft and a new pinion
oil seal for the back axle. The bodywork also received attention with new castle
sections and jacking points.
Our vendor
acquired the car in 2020, at which point it had been in storage since 2008. He
has since carried out a good deal of work on the car including: full stainless
steel exhaust including manifold; new alternator and starter motor; new clutch
master and slave cylinders; reconditioned fuel pump; new front shock absorbers;
electronic ignition and unleaded cylinder head conversion.
Riding on period alloy wheels and fitted with a folding fabric
sunroof and a sporty bonnet scoop, it has been starting promptly and running
well as we have moved it around on site, although we did note that the oil
pressure/water temperature gauge did not seem to be working.
