Delivered new in April
1999 through H R Owen, London, this impressive Arnage is still showing fewer
than 68,000 miles from new. Fitted with Bentley's version of BMW's
superb 4.4-litre V8, it has had four previous keepers according to the V5C, the
current owner acquiring the car in 2015.
H R Owen Service saw the car
four times in total to 2002, by which time it had covered 11,093 miles. The car
then visited Broughtons of Cheltenham a year later at 13,206 miles, Bentley
Birmingham in 2005 at 19,049 and Balmoral UK between 2008 and 2011 by which time
the odometer was reading 36,431 miles. Bentley Glasgow subsequently saw it
twice, once in 2013 and again in 2014 at 51,157 miles. The next stamps are from
local specialist NRT Motors in 2020 and 2022 at 63,912 miles and 66,790 miles
respectively - that's 14 stamps including the PDI.
The vendor then used
Mulsanne Motors for regular work, bills on file including nsf lower arm bushes
for an MOT in 2015 (£787), brake work in 2016 (£131), a petrol return pipe 2016
(£587), shock boots in 2018 (£99), nsr ABS sensor in 2018 (£165) and a rear
suspension overhaul 2018 (£697). Flying Spares supplied an exchange rear damper
for £600 and more brake and shock work took place by Warrens Hill in 2020
costing a further £1,956. In 2021 RR&B looked after a ticking noise from the
rear which turned out to be a sticking drive shaft/hub, fitted new bearings and
a replacement drive shaft and a new ABS sensor (£3,186).
As you can see
it has had plenty of care over the years.
The No Advisory MOT expires in
December 2023 and the car was driven some 25 miles to the sale.
The car
presents well, although there are a few areas of lacquer lift and some paintwork
scuffs as one might expect on a car of this size using country roads, although
the panel work is good. We also noted the air conditioning could do with a
re-gas.
The car comes with spare keys and its original hand book and
service book packs. It is clean and tidy inside and looks like a lot of Bentley
for little outlay.
