Original two-door Escort rebuilt to RS2000 spec; 5-speed gearbox; disc
brakes all round; Bilstein suspension; retrimmed interior; lovely condition
throughout
Built at Ford’s Halewood
factory in November 1973, this Ford Escort MkI two-door would have started out
in life as an 1100 or 1300 model but has since been rebuilt to RS2000 spec.
There is no early history with the car but a copy of an old Irish
Registration Document shows that by 1996 it was resident in Donegal. Our vendor
imported it from Ireland in March 2017 with all duties paid and had it UK
registered with the number CDM 857M.
A Fast Ford collector for many
years, he already had a Ford 2.0 Pinto engine on the shelf which had been
rebuilt to RS2000 spec with an alloy sump and 205 block. He fitted this into the
car, along with a Ford 5-speed gearbox, a new clutch kit, an RS2000 rear diff
and a new exhaust system.
He also fitted rear disc
brakes and Bilstein suspension with new polybushes throughout. The interior was
fully retrimmed by Aldridge Trim of Wolverhampton which cost £1,670 including
seat covers; head rest foams; door cards; rear quarter panels; carpets etc. New
inertia reel front seatbelts were also fitted along with an RS steering wheel
and Racetech rev counter plus much else besides.
As you can see in
the photos, this Escort is in really super condition both above and below and
has been starting promptly and running well as we have moved it around on site
with very healthy oil pressure.
Only reluctantly for sale due
to the advancing years of the vendor who is now thinning down his collection of
interesting cars, it is on offer here at a very enticing guide price so bid
vigorously now and it could be you who takes it
home...
