Description
Classic London cab; just three owners; excellent service record; fun
history; driven 40 miles to the sale; MOT until February 2026
This
bright yellow 2007 TX4 Silver was delivered new to its first owner in 2007 and
used exactly as intended for the next 13 years. During this time, it racked up
around 195,000 miles – a walk in the park for these indestructible machines,
plying its trade in Central London.
It was serviced regularly, with 19
stamps showing in the book, its most recent taking place in 2019 by which time
it had covered 190,342 miles.
The previous owner, the Master of one of
London’s Livery Companies, needed a vehicle to use in the Lord Mayor’s Parade
and a plan was hatched to use a London Taxi which could carry an oversize ‘Tin
Can’ mounted on the roof with two seats inside – the Livery Company in question
being for ‘The Tin Plate Workers’.
The Taxi Driver’s Charity, which has
close associations with the ‘Tin Plate Workers’ got involved, and helped select
a good one, which was duly dressed for the occasion.
All done for
Charity, money was raised en route, and a good time was had by all.
The
last MOT was issued in February 2025 at 200,210 miles and unfortunately the
odometer then stopped working but it hasn't done many miles since. The cab still
looks smart and presentable and we are told that it drove like a treat on
the 40-mile journey to Brightwells. It deserves a new life, offering loads
of space, a decent ride and the last word in reliability.
