First registered
in Nottinghamshire in April 1932, this super little Austin 7 Saloon comes
with very little history so we can’t tell you much about it. It has had eight
former keepers, according to the V5C, and our vendor acquired it only fairly
recently from a gent who had owned it for the previous eight
years.
During his ownership it apparently had a
fair bit of work carried out, including new king pins and bushes, new front
suspension springs, new clutch, new rear tyres, new sunshine roof and a new
battery.
Our vendor has treated it to an oil
service and covered about 40 miles in the car, reporting that it runs and drives
well with good oil pressure and the dynamo charging as it
should.
The MOT history online shows that it has
been in light regular use, clocking up some 2,500 miles since 2006, the odometer
currently showing 5,433 miles. It has clearly been restored to a good standard
at some point, HPI recording a colour change from black to green in 1983 so that
is perhaps when the restoration was carried out – who knows?
As you can see in the photos, this charming little Austin looks very
pretty indeed and has been starting easily and running very sweetly as we have
moved it around on site. An original Austin Seven handbook is also included.
Eligible for VSCC events, the icing on the cake
is the nice Notts-issue number plate, VO 7853, which is transferable according
to the V5C and doubtless has a value of its own.
