Description
Classed as a
rolling restoration; known to the Sunbeam
Talbot Darracq register; recently fitted new hood; owned by our vendors
family since 1981
The Sunbeam marque was a force to be reckoned
with in the 1920s, manufacturing a range of superb quality cars appealing to the
discerning motorist.
By the mid 1930s, Rootes had taken charge and
the range turned into a range of solid more sensible models, compared
with the roaring sporty 20s.
This 16HP drophead coupe was first registered in
1932 and should be classed as a rolling restoration currently.
Completion of the interior and mechanical work is needed and the car was
transported here, but the engine does turn. We have not attempted to drive
it.
Our vendor was a member of the Sunbeam Talbot Darracq register a few
years ago, so it is a recognised car to the
club.
Although there is very little history with the car, we do have a
letter confirming the names of the last 5 owners, dating back to 1952 to present
day and a handwritten invoice of when our vendors family bought it for £800 in
1981.
