Lot Ended
Description
Outstanding aluminium-bodied pedal car from long-term
ownership; perfect for little feet; numbered 033316
This fabulous
pedal car has been in the current family ownership for over 30 years. We are
told that our vendor’s late-father acquired it as a stable-mate for the
full-size 1947 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith that he also owned, possibly at a
Bonhams auction, paying over £8,000.
As you can
see in the photos, it is in lovely condition and has even won awards at car
shows – an East Ayrshire Car Club ‘Class Winner’ rosette is in the boot, and it
has its own ‘Car Care Kit’ housed in a vintage-looking Shell oil
can!
The family never found out who actually made
the pedal car (which is numbered 033316) but as luck would have it, we can now
solve this mystery for them.
It was actually made
by the very same craftsman who made the previous Lot (197), the equally fabulous
Bentley Barnato pedal car, who identified it when he dropped into our office
recently. While he does not wish to disclose his identity in public, he has
graciously agreed to let us pass his details on to whoever buys this car.
It has been made to the same exacting standard, shares many of the same
features, and the dimensions are broadly similar, so do take a good look at that
one too. Better still, why not buy them both? What a wonderful pair they
make.
Our vendor travelled over 350 miles to get this car to Brightwells
(don't worry - they didn't pedal it, they put it in the back of their BMW), so
please reward their fortitude by the generosity of your
bids...
