VR6
Storm is extremely rare with only 17 remaining; owned for 26 years;
only two owners from new; driven here over 40
miles
The Volkswagen Corrado VR6 Storm is a rare, limited-edition coupé
produced exclusively for the UK market in 1995 to mark the end of the Corrado's
production run. With only 500 examples built, it has become a sought-after
modern classic. The Storm was produced for the 1995/1996 model year, split
evenly between two colours: 250 cars in Classic Green and 250 in Mystic
Blue.
Under the bonnet, the Corrado Storm features a 2.9-litre 12-valve VR6
engine, delivering just under 190 brake horsepower (186 bhp). This gives the car
a top speed of 146 mph and a 0 to 60 mph time of just 6.7 seconds. It came
exclusively with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Storm edition was distinguished by a number of unique features.
It was offered in two exclusive colour and interior combinations: Mystic Blue
Pearl with a black leather interior and black piping, and Classic Green Pearl
with a beige leather interior. The Mystic Blue paint was unique to this edition.
The car rode on 15-inch BBS “Solitude” alloy wheels and came standard with
heated front leather seats. Additional features included leather door cards, an
electric sunroof, and special "Storm" badging.
Owing to its limited production, the VR6 Storm is now extremely rare.
As of May 2025, only 17 examples were known to survive in both colours, with
just 7 still on the road. This rarity, combined with the appeal of the VR6
engine and the Storm’s unique features, has made it the most desirable Corrado
variant. Although the cars themselves are relatively affordable compared to
other classics, parts can be expensive and difficult to find. Some components
are shared with other VW models, which can ease maintenance to a degree. On the
resale market, prices vary based on condition, mileage, and history, but the
Storm is expected to continue appreciating in value as a collectible modern
classic.
Only two owners from new,
this Corrado has been with the current keeper for the last 26 years and has an
MOT that expires December of this year.
Running
and driving on site since the car was driven here over 40
miles.
The vendor has advised us that the car has
been regularly maintained and serviced at their local garage but there was not a
service book to stamp.
This would make
an ideal usable daily driver with room to improve. A very original car but
would benefit from some repairs to the bodywork (see pho5tos), new head lining
and an interior clean.
