Sportster
jubilee: Harley’s 75th anniversary rebel project; last on the road in 2005;
requires recommissioning
Produced to
celebrate Harley-Davidson’s
75th anniversary, the 1978 Sportster Jubilee Edition is a rare commemorative
model distinguished by its black and gold livery with special anniversary
badging. Powered by the iconic 1,000cc Ironhead V-Twin, it delivered the raw performance and character that defined the
Sportster line.
Limited in production, the Jubilee Edition combined
Harley’s
heritage with period styling, making it a sought-after collector’s
piece today. This example represents a milestone in Harley-Davidson history, embodying the spirit of American motorcycling in
the late 1970s with distinctive looks, robust engineering, and enduring cultural
appeal.
Being the limited edition, it is fitted
with the 1,000cc instead of the 884cc normally fitted to the
sportster.
Originally registered in Holland and
imported in 1999, it was last on the road in around 2005.
Fresh from long term dry storage after some failed attempts to get it
running a few years ago, it has fired with a hot wire to coil and a sniff of
brake cleaner the vendor has informed us. Now in need of the carburettors
cleaning and recommissioning.
Original sissy bar
is not fitted but still here along with some easy rider pedals, works manual and
the V5C.
