Owned for the last 25
years by current keeper; extensive restoration; fully documented with pictures
in 2022; reconditioned engine 2001; reconditioned gearbox in
2018
This attractive 1979 MGB
Roadster has had just seven previous keepers and has been in the care of its
current owner since August 2000.
Finished in black with a
matching black leatherette interior, it is the later rubber-bumper model and
comes complete with both a soft top and a hard top, along with a tonneau cover.
The car sits on a handsome set of Minilite-style wheels and was first registered
in August 1980.
It is powered by the renowned
1798cc engine and has an MOT valid until March 2026. It drove over 15 miles to
the sale and has been starting and running reliably on site for photographs and
video.
The history accompanying the
car is extensive, including an old-style logbook, twenty-eight past MOTs, the
original handbook and a large neatly arranged book documenting the 2022
restoration with photographs, along with several invoices for work
completed.
Recent maintenance includes a
new radiator, radiator cap, fan belt, fan/radiator switch, and steering rack
gaiters in 2023. In 2022 the car underwent major restoration work, including
bodywork refurbishment, a full respray, and wax-oiling. In 2021 both front and
rear shock absorbers were replaced.
The gearbox was refurbished in
2018, and a new mohair hood was fitted in 2015 when the Minilite wheels were
also added. Earlier work includes a small refurbishment in 2012 with new wings,
carpets, and heater matrix, and in 2001 the engine was reconditioned and a new
fuel tank installed.
