The
Super Eight is a masterpiece of Daimler design, a car praised for its balance,
proportions, and attention to detail. It offers a stately yet thrilling drive,
with 0-60 mph achieved in just 5.3 seconds and an optional Sport mode that
sharpens the suspension and holds gears longer for that unmistakable Daimler
performance.
This rare and exceptionally
well-preserved Daimler Super Eight is a true sleeper with a 4.0-litre
supercharged V8 delivering 370 BHP. This long wheelbase model, finished in
striking Emerald Green with Ivory and Sable trim, has undergone a meticulous
£9,000 restoration, coming with a comprehensive history file. It features
the coveted full centre console extending from front to rear, reclining heated
seats, electric headrests, and luxurious appointments throughout, including
genuine lambskin rugs.
The leather has been
reconditioned, wood trim is in excellent condition with only a minor crack on
the near side front door capping, and the headlining has been corrected.
Mechanically, it seems very sound, with most of the suspension and
drivetrain replaced during its life, and the engine itself was replaced by
Jaguar in 2004 as part of the Nikasil recall and has since covered just 70,000
miles.
Additional updates include a new Bosch
battery, alternator, and screen washer pump. All electronics function, and the
sunroof is watertight. Minor issues include a small air conditioning condenser
leak, worn power-fold mirror gears (motors operate fine), and slight orange peel
on the near side front wing.
The car comes with
Jaguar Heritage Trust factory build certificate, 14 MOTs, 15 service stamps,
handbook, brochure, and invoices. MOT is valid until July 2026, and the current
mileage is 136,640. Described by the classic garage that worked on it as
possibly one of the finest examples on the road today, this Super Eight
combines understated elegance, performance, and comfort at a level comparable to
a Rolls-Royce.
