1962 Austin Healey 3000 Mk
II BJ7; Vendor informs us that approximately £14,000 has been invested during
the current 13-year ownership; RHD conversion; performance upgrades; Hardtop;
rare 3 carburettors option
Presented in Old English White
with a contrasting black leather interior, this striking 1962 Austin Healey 3000
Mk II BJ7 represents a fine example of one of Britain’s most charismatic classic
sports cars. Powered by the marque’s well-known 2912cc straight-six engine,
paired with a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive, the car delivers the
engaging and characterful driving experience for which these Healeys are
renowned.
The current keeper has owned
the car since August 2013, when it was imported from the United States and
subsequently first registered in the UK on 1 September 2013. Around 12 years ago
the car was converted from left-hand drive to right-hand drive, making it well
suited to use on UK roads. The conversion required the manufacture of a new
dashboard as part of the process.
During the vendor’s ownership,
significant investment has been made to improve performance and reliability. The
engine benefits from several desirable upgrades including a Denis Welch fast
road camshaft, triple SU carburettors, headers with side-exit exhaust, and a
Denis Welch alloy racing rocker cover.
Further work carried out on 6
October 2025, according to the vendor, included fitting four new tyres,
replacing the spark plugs and points, installing a new distributor and ignition
leads, fitting a new radiator and fan blades, installing a reconditioned dynamo,
overhauling all brakes, and completing the conversion from LHD to RHD including
the newly fabricated dashboard. The vendor informs us that this work totalled
approximately £13,973 plus VAT, in addition to this the car has the rare 3
carburettors option.
Externally, the car presents
very well. Panel fit to the doors, bonnet and boot is reported to be good, and
the car is supplied with the optional factory removable hardtop, which remains
in excellent condition. Much of the brightwork, including the rear bumper,
grille, grille surround, headlamp rims, door handles, boot handle and badging,
is described as being in very good order, although the front bumper is currently
not attached.
The car rides on aftermarket
six-spoke alloy knock-off wheels, believed to be K&N, which are fitted with
recently replaced tyres. Under the bonnet, the engine bay appears clean and well
presented, with the radiator, wiring loom and hydraulic systems reportedly in
good condition. While on site, the vehicle started, drove and stopped as
expected, demonstrating the strong mechanical condition achieved through the
recent work undertaken.
This Austin Healey 3000 Mk II
BJ7 represents an excellent opportunity to acquire a well-presented and
mechanically enhanced example of a much-loved British sports car, complete with
desirable upgrades and significant recent
expenditure.
