Showing only 57,700 miles with two former keepers; professional
respray; restoration work caried out by specialist, Anton
Bouiter
Few cars capture the charm and character of
post-war motoring quite like the Fiat 500, and this 1972 500L is a particularly
appealing example.
Displaying 57,700 miles and
just two former keepers, the car has benefited from a period off the road during
which it underwent a comprehensive mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment. The
bodywork has been extensively attended to, including the floor pan, sills, wheel
arches and doors, before being professionally resprayed in its original white,
presenting very well today.
Mechanically, the car
has been the subject of significant work by respected Fiat specialist Anton
Bouiter, who brings over 24 years’ experience with the marque. The engine and
gearbox were removed and overhauled with new gaskets and seals, a replacement
camshaft and timing set, while the gearbox was inspected and the driveshafts
renewed. Gearbox mounts and fluids have also been replaced.
Further improvements include a full ignition refresh (coil, leads,
plugs, distributor cap and points), renewed suspension components, and a
comprehensive brake overhaul incorporating a new master cylinder, wheel
cylinders, shoes, hoses, pipes and wheel bearings.
Additional works include new fuel lines, fuel pump, exhaust, choke
and starter cables. The interior has been enhanced with a new sunroof, carpets
and seat belts.
A charming and well-sorted
example, ready to be enjoyed.
