Recent professional body conversion; new fuel injectors; bespoke
stainless steel exhaust; electric winch; sturdy tow hitch; advisory-free MOT;
driven 50 miles to the sale; a handy bit of kit to have around
Built in 2007,
this Defender 110 diesel has the extra heavy duty chassis and would have started
out in life as a two-door truck cab model. It comes with no early history but an
HPI checks shows that it was recorded as a Cat C insurance loss in January 2015
(damaged; repairable) and it must have been fixed pretty quickly because the MOT
history online shows that it passed another test in January 2016,
the recorded mileage at this point being 41,691.
Our vendor acquired the truck in September 2025 at which point it had
been converted into a cherry picker (see last three photos). He had this removed
and had a new rear load deck professionally made incorporating an electric winch
with remote control, a sturdy tow hitch, a pair of lockable tool boxes and LED
tail lights. The chassis was also cleaned and undersealed and a new custom-made
stainless steel exhaust system was fitted which exits behind the cab, the
invoice showing that this lot cost £4,850.
As it
initially idled erratically, it was also professionally fitted with four new
fuel injectors, the high-pressure fuel pump was refurbished, the fuelling system
reprogrammed and various relays cleaned up, followed by a road test to confirm
that it was all sorted, the bill for this lot coming to
£1,305.
Although it currently shows 148,620 miles
on the speedo, we are told that many of these are not actual road miles but were
instead clocked up by the gearbox PTO pump which kept the odometer ticking over
while the cherry picker was in use and the vehicle itself was stationary. The
MOT history online implies that it covered some 90k miles between March 2019 and
February 2022 which does seem somewhat implausible…
Starting promptly and running well as we have moved it around on
site, it was driven some 50 miles to the sale and has an MOT until December 2026
with no advisories recorded.
