7 Seater; well maintained;
recently over £4,000 spent on the mechanics of the car; only 5 owners in total;
showing just over 220,000 miles; nothing for one of these
vehicles!
This 1993 Toyota Land
Cruiser VX automatic is a highly regarded example of one of the most durable and
capable 4x4s ever produced. First registered in August 1993, this seven-seat
diesel presents in dark metallic green with a contrasting grey interior and has
covered just over 220,000 miles, supported by an exceptional history file and
long-term enthusiast ownership,
This Land Cruiser has had
just five former keepers, with the current vendor having owned the vehicle since
April 2016, a period of approximately ten years. During this time, the vendor
states the vehicle has been maintained with care and diligence, benefiting from
a strict servicing regime with oil and filter changes every 5,000 miles and full
services carried out every 10,000 miles, the most recent completed at 220,000
miles.
The history accompanying the vehicle is extensive and
impressive, including 28 previous MOT certificates, 19 service stamps, original
handbooks, and a substantial collection of invoices documenting maintenance and
upkeep over many years. This is a Land Cruiser that has not simply been used,
but consistently maintained regardless of cost.
Significant
recent expenditure further enhances this example. In August 2025, the vehicle
was entrusted to Overland Cruisers, well-known specialists in Land Cruiser
models, who carried out a comprehensive inspection followed by extensive
mechanical work totalling £4,075. This included a full front axle rebuild, power
steering overhaul, a new radiator, replacement crank pulley harmonic balancer,
tightening of the alternator and air conditioning belts, repair of the driver's
seat and window electrics, and a rebuild of the nearside front brake caliper
with a new piston and front brake pads fitted.
Additional
works include a repaired speedometer in February 2026, replacement of a wheel
arch in December 2020, and notable bodywork carried out in November 2020 to
multiple panels including the tailgate, bonnet, wings, doors and rear quarter
panels at a cost of £1,632. The vehicle has recently passed its MOT and is now
tested until February 2027.
The vendor states that,
mechanically, the car has driven beautifully since the work completed last year
and performs exactly as expected. It was driven to the auction site without
issue, starts reliably, runs smoothly, and operates correctly
throughout.
It is important to note that the vehicle was
recorded as a Category D insurance loss in December 2012. However, the extensive
documentation and continued long-term ownership since suggest that any issues
were resolved to a satisfactory standard, and the vehicle has remained in
consistent use ever since.
Overall, the vehicle presents
well for its age and mileage, although the front seats would benefit from some
sympathetic refurbishment to bring the interior back to its very
best.
The vendor speaks warmly of the Land Cruiser's
capabilities and practicality, commenting: "It's been a joy to
have this legend of a 4x4. The seven seats, space and power have made it
possible to camp with three kids and two dogs, carry all our kit for festival
trips and literally climb any mountain." It is a fitting
endorsement of a model renowned worldwide for its rugged dependability,
outstanding versatility and genuine go-anywhere
ability.
This represents a rare opportunity to acquire a
well-maintained and extensively documented example of the legendary Land Cruiser
VX. With its robust 4.2-litre diesel engine, proven reliability and significant
recent mechanical investment, this is a vehicle equally suited to continued
daily use, overland adventure or preservation as a modern
classic.
