1968 Triumph Herald 1200 Convertible
No Reserve
From a deceased estate; recently recommissioned with many new parts;
use and improve
This Triumph
Herald 1200 Convertible was first registered in March 1968. Nothing is known of
the subsequent history of the car but our vendor acquired it via eBay in April
2021. The listing provided by the seller stated that he had acquired the car as
a lockdown project in October 2020.
Various new
parts were reputedly fitted including: all four tyres; front brake calipers,
pads and hoses; rear wheel cylinders and brake shoes; wiper blades; headlamp
bulbs; front indicator/sidelight units; door and boot rubbers; radiator and
heater hoses; thermostat and housing; voltage regulator; reconditioned dynamo;
engine mount; starter solenoid; battery leads; distributor cap; rotor arm;
points; plugs and leads; fuel pipe; rocker gasket; fresh oil and filter; air
filter; fuel filter; bumper rubbers; floor mats; chrome wing mirrors; new viny
hood cover etc.
The listing further stated that
the body and chassis were ‘very solid’ with minimal signs of previous welding.
The interior was described as ‘presentable but not perfect’ with a wooden dash
from a 13/60 with ‘all instruments working as they should’ and a retro-styled FM
radio/USB/SD/Bluetooth head unit.
The seller
also stated that he had repainted the car himself on his drive, admitting that
it was not done to a professional standard. This is certainly the case and the
paintwork is best described as poor, the panel fit also leaving something to be
desired!
While it has been starting
promptly as we have moved it around on site, it seems that the brakes no
longer work so they will need attention.
On offer here from a deceased estate, it is being sold at no
reserve and strictly ‘as seen’ so the best bid takes it home.
