Description
Few owners, the current since 1979; restored in the early 1980s
including rebuilt engine and only around 12k miles since; aluminium wings;
stainless steel exhaust; overdrive; on the button and ready to go
First registered to Pegasus Services of Norbury,
London SW16 in April 1967, this Healey 3000 MkIII then had four further owners
before our vendor acquired the car from a lady in Swansea in September 1979.
Although the V5C records only one former keeper, the original VE60 green logbook
records all five former keepers.
When
our vendor acquired the car he had it professionally appraised by a firm of
independent engineers (Boswell & Cherry of Hemel Hempstead) who declared it
to be “in exceptionally good condition for the year”, the odometer at this point
showing 54,649 miles. The car is now showing 71,200 miles which is believed
correct and is backed up by many old MOTs and invoices on
file.
Always well-maintained in the current
44-year ownership, the car comes with a very large file of invoices back to
1977. Highlights include:
1980 – new kingpins
and rear hub bearings
1982 – engine
rebuilt with new pistons, bearings, reground crank, new clutch etc at c.60k
miles; new hood

overhauled at 70,934 miles

output alternator; uprated cooling fan; battery isolator

2017 – new front seat covers and
foams; new rev counter; quartz halogen headlight kit
2018 – new high torque starter motor and solenoid
As you can see in the photos, the car looks
tidy enough but could be improved cosmetically - the paintwork has some
microblistering here and there. It appears to be fighting fit mechanically and
has been starting promptly and running nicely as we have moved it around on site
with good 45psi oil pressure (although the gauge actually reads 10% low, as
shown by a report on file, so the actual oil pressure is more like
50psi).
Altogether a good, solid, driver
quality Healey from long term ownership which can be enjoyed as it is and
improved over time as desired.
