Description
Rare
example of an early Bay Window Crossover Volkswagen Transporter; started life as
a Volkswagen Van that has been converted into a camper at some time in its
life.
The
Crossover vehicles were only produced for less than 2 years (1971-72) where they
were given the early bay window body (half-moon intakes, small back lights and
front indicators at the lower part of front panel next to the blade bumpers and
the later suspension and disc front brakes of the later bay window. This
particular van is made even rarer as the roof has not been cut to fit a pop top
roof.
This
Camper has been owned by the current keeper for nearly 10 years and would make a
superb project for anyone looking to spend a little time to make a really nice
all-round Camper Van, currently the vehicle is not running, but a lot of work
has been carried out to the engine by the looks with new Solex Carb, Alternator
and distributor. There are 14 old MOTs and receipts showing some of the work
that was carried out up to 2012, there also two little notebooks that have been
kept from 1979 to 2005 with everything the van has done in that time period
(makes interesting reading).
From
a local privately run estate in Shropshire and ready for someone to make it
their own.
