Description
Vast recent
expenditure; ground up rebuild; wonderful condition throughout; just 298 miles
covered on its new parts
First registered in
January 1997, this gorgeous Morgan 4/4 has had just four owners from
new, our vendor acquiring it in 2021 from a Morgan
enthusiast who picked the car up after it was unfortunately fire damaged in
2012. It was then totally rebuilt using the original chassis and
gearbox, with nearly £35,000 spent on it since to get it back up to the
wonderful condition you see today.
Each portion
of the rebuild was carried out by specialists in their respective fields, the
chap who bought this fire-damaged Morgan being not confident enough in his own
ability to undertake such a mammoth task himself. Lots of the fiddly labour
including the wiring and fitting of the interior, engine, sensors, switches etc
was undertaken by classic car specialists Retro Marques of
Strensham.
A vast file of bills detail the
rebirth of this Morgan, including a new engine, new body, new wiring
loom etc - it's pretty much an all-new car, bar the chassis and
gearbox. The majority of the new parts were supplied by Morgan specialist Melvyn
Rutter of Bishops Stortford.
In our vendor's
ownership he had the seats and door cards retrimmed by an ex-Morgan trimmer
and a new hood and tonneau fitted. Some trimming is left to be finished off
inside the cabin, this consisting of the gearbox shroud and rear
panels.
Covering just 298 miles since its
comprehensive restoration, this spectacular Morgan has been rebuilt to a
fantastic standard, the only clue of the car's unfortunate past being a
nice reminder in the form of the rear luggage rack which still bears the scars
from that fateful day.
The fire damage was never
declared as the Morgan was uninsured at the time, this allows a great
opportunity to snap up a 'brand new' older 4/4 that is filled with far more
driving delight than any new Morgan could provide.
Running and driving very nicely on site, this 4/4 comes with an
advisory-free MOT until April 2026.
