Description
Fantastic restoration with some choice upgrades; galvanised
chassis and bulkhead; good recent expenditure; ready for shows or
work
Extensively restored to a high standard
by renowned Land Rover restoration specialists King Rig Customs, this Series III
88-inch was first registered in July 1976 fitted with a 2.25 petrol engine and
shows 47, 131 miles on the odometer.
While there
are no bills to document the restoration the results speak for themselves and
the quality of the workmanship is plain to see. We are told that the engine and
gearbox were rebuilt including a 5-bearing crank and a new overdrive unit. It
also got an impressive list of new mechanical components including new upgraded
shocks and springs. The bodywork is beautifully straight and finished in
Woodcote Green which looks wonderful. It sits on a set of 1-Ton wheels finished
in satin black and wrapped in a set of BFGoodrich A/T tyres.
The interior did not escape a glow up, being well finished and then
fitted with LED lighting, Bluetooth Land Rover speaker, a new set of front seats
and new rear benches. A new canvas tilt was also fitted with a galvanised frame.
The chassis was replaced with a galvanised unit that was then etch primed and
Raptor coated before been reunited with the body which had received a galvanised
bulkhead, front plate, plus new door tops, bottoms and
cappings.
Since its restoration was completed, we
have invoices on file for a new radiator and hose kit plus lots of miscellaneous
items including a handbrake lever shaft, reverse spring and much more besides.
These were all supplied and fitted by APB Trading of Kiderminster in October
2023 when our vendor took the vehicle in for an inspection and a good once-over.
Running and driving nicely on site, it has an MOT until April 2026 with no
advisories recorded.
Purchased from ourselves
last June, our vendor has set about getting this Series III to an even higher
standard than when we saw it last. In his short but sweet ownership a new front
differential has been fitted along with new UJs in the propshaft, new folding
sidesteps have been fitted, also we have an invoice for a thorough check over by
Bourton LR Ltd in Cheltenham. They went about getting a wheel alignment sorted
and checking over the whole vehicle. While it was there new rear wheel cylinders
were fitted, the brake and clutch fluid
replaced and the fluid levels topped up where needed.
With nearly £5,000 spent in our vendor's ownership, this spectacular
Land Rover is now up for grabs once again. It has great presence here in
our showroom and the new owner will not be disappointed.
A great looking Series III that’s no doubt had many thousands spent
on a quality restoration while retaining the heart and soul of this iconic
off-roader.
