Description
Only 38,847
miles showing; a potential 250bhp and full £7k BBR Turbo Sport 2.5 upgrade
including clutch, LSD, suspension and brakes; five
keepers
Supplied new in December 2004 this
late model MkII already boasted a high spec, being the S-VT Sport version
featuring full leather with heated seats, air conditioning, front spotlights,
electric windows, white dials, aluminium affect trim etc and has had just five
owners from new. The previous owner purchased the car in August 2015 after
experiencing a Turbo version when living in New Zealand and simply had to have
one.
EVO magazine had raved about the BBR Turbo version it road tested a
few years ago, so our vendor signed up for the full ‘BBR 2.5 Sport’ pack,
costing a whopping £7,000. For that, the car would receive the works, yet retain
its stock look (until you look a little closer) including BBR’s excellent
Garrett turbo conversion, uprated clutch, full stainless hi-flow exhaust, LSD,
uprated turbo grooved disc brakes with uprated pads and beefier suspension to
handle the claimed 250bhp now available.
This pocket-rocket-roadster has
covered just 38,832 miles and was converted by BBR in 2015 when it had covered
just 27,000 miles. With the arrival of small children our original vendor in
2020 (who had the work done) simply didn’t have sufficient opportunity to enjoy
the car, hence just 4,000 miles covered during his ownership, and just 9,000
miles have been covered since by two subsequent owners, both purchasing the car
from ourselves.
The history file includes the V5C, owners pack and
service book showing 11 stamps plus three body inspections, six old MOTs plus
VOSA print-out along with service invoicing including those covering the
conversion. The current MOT runs until September 2025 with no recorded
advisories.
If it whets your appetite further, our consignor was treated
to a short blast in the car, and to say it goes well is an understatement, MX5’s
don’t usually pull your face off! Oh, and the plate pretty much says MX5, and
almost BBR if you squint hard enough...
Given the high price paid for
the conversion and the hilarious performance, this looks like an absolute
bargain if you ask us...
