From a deceased estate; 72k miles with 8 services, the last only 100
miles ago; new rear tyres; private plate; looks great in Carrara White; ULEZ
compliant; lots to love about this one!
The Gen 2
version of the Porsche 997, produced from 2009 – 2012, is widely considered to
be the ‘sweet spot’ by 911 enthusiasts, offering a near-perfect blend of
analogue feel and modern performance and reliability.
The all-new MA1 DFI (Direct Fuel Injection) engine completely
eliminated the notorious IMS bearing failure risk and significantly reduced the
likelihood of bore scoring issues that could affect the earlier 997.1 models.
The aging Tiptronic automatic transmission was replaced by the superb 7-speed
PDK dual-clutch transmission, giving lightning-fast changes and superior
efficiency.
The 997.2 also retained the
traditional hydraulic power steering which provided that pure, unfiltered
feedback that purists claim was lost when Porsche switched to electric steering
in the subsequent 911 versions. It also gained LED daytime running lights and a
new PCM 3.0 Touchscreen for improved tech, nav and connectivity.
Add in the compact dimensions and classic 911
silhouette lost on later models, and it cements the 997.2 as a true ‘Modern
Classic’ which will always be highly sought-after by petrolheads like
us.
Supplied new by Porsche Centre Solihull in
March 2009, this 997.2 Carrera 2 S-A looks fabulous in Carrara White Gloss
with a full black leather interior. It has the naturally aspirated 3.6 flat-six
which produces 345bhp, sufiicient to sprint to 60mph in 4.7 seconds with a top
speed of 178mph. It is also a non-sunroof, rear-wheel-drive model, as favoured
by keen drivers.
It would have cost its first owner just under £71k
including almost £9k of options. These include: PDK transmission; Porsche Active
Suspension Management (PASM); 19” Turbo wheels; aluminium doors; park assist
system; heated seats; BOSE High End Sound Package; 3-spoke PDK multifunction
steering wheel in smooth leather; windscreen top tint; phone and nav module for
PCM.
It has covered 72,100 miles and comes with
an excellent service history comprising 8 stamps in the book, the last barely
100 miles ago at Porsche Centre Tewkesbury in July this year (see photos). There
are also many supporting invoices plus bills for any parts fitted between
services.
The current (6th) owner
acquired the car from Dhada Motors of Leicester in July 2022 when it was
registered as VX09 XWN. He has put his personalised number on, YOP 100, which is
included with the car and doubtless has a substantial value of its
own.
On offer here from a deceased estate, the
V5C records six former keepers as the owner’s widow has just put the car into
her own name.
It has an MOT until April 2026 with
just two advisories for worn rear tyres but these were replaced in May with a
new pair of 295/30/19 Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tyres which cost £469 and it
has only covered around 200 miles since.
All the original handbooks
are present along with a print-out of the full spec of the car (see last six
photos), two sets of keys and two locking wheel nuts. It is ULEZ compliant
and road tax should be only £450 per year.
As you
can see in the photos, this 997 is in excellent condition for its year/mileage
with not a single scratch or stone-chip that we could spot. Always kept garaged
in the current ownership as part of a collection of interesting cars, it was
driven 30 miles to the sale by the late-owner's mechanic who maintained all his
older classics for him. It has been starting instantly and running beautifully
as we have moved it around on site, with that fabulous 997 exhaust note.
On offer here for considerably less than
you might expect to pay at a dealership, this pampered 997.2 looks
particularly good in white and is just the sort of thing that any true
petrolhead would love to have in their garage.
