delightful little machine, this 1964 Benelli Sprint 3V Sports is one of those
charming Italian lightweights that rarely surface today, especially in such
appealing condition. A genuine race-style moped from Benelli’s golden era, the Sprint 3V combined
lightweight engineering with the flair and sparkle that only the Italians seemed
able to muster in the 1960s.
Extremely rare on UK shores, this example has
spent recent years as part of a large private motorcycle collection, where it
has clearly been cherished. It presents very well indeed, maintaining all its
original parts, and benefitting from a sympathetic restoration a few years ago
that has left it looking both authentic and eye-catching.
Visually, it is a treat: the bright
red frame contrasts beautifully with the silver and red panels and fuel tank,
giving it the unmistakable stance of a miniature Italian racer. The proportions,
