Strong prices and a clearance rate of over 97% were the headlines from Brightwells’ first Fine Wine Auction of the year.
The timed online auction took place over a 5 day period and attracted buyers from Hong Kong Singapore, the USA, and all over Europe as well as merchants and private collectors from up and down the UK.
The centerpiece of the auction was a major private collection of first growth Bordeaux, classic Burgundy and top end Californian wines; impeccably stored in the cellars of a substantial central London property.
The collection ran to over 1400 bottles; and included Chateaux Lafite, Latour, Haut Brion, Mouton Rothschild, Margaux and also Petrus.
The top priced Bordeaux lot on the day was 5 bottles of Petrus 1994 which attracted global attention; the hammer finally fell at £8990.
A stunning collection of White Burgundy from Leflaive also set pulses racing with 12 bottles of Bienvenues Batard Montrachet selling at £7440.
Entries are invited for Brightwells’ Wine Sales in April and May.
