Rydale BMW of Cardiff in August 1998, this unique Individual-spec BMW 523i SE is
finished in sparkling Biarritz Blue with a factory Alpina bodykit and Alpina 18”
alloys.
It has covered only 82,225 miles in the
hands of one family since June 1999 with an excellent service history comprising
9 stamps in the service book, the last in October this year at 82,223 miles (see
photos).
The car was individually specified with
the following options: colour-coded Alpina style body kit; 18" Alpina alloy
wheels with wider track to the rear; Sports suspension; Xenon headlamps with
power wash; clear indicator lenses; rear park distance control; Sand Beige
leather interior; M-Sport leather clad multi-function steering wheel; BMW
Business radio cassette with 6 disc CD multi changer in the
boot.
Standard features include onboard computer;
power steering; electric windows; electric mirrors; climate controlled air
conditioning; cruise control; traction control; automatic wipers; remote central
locking.
Under the bonnet is BMW’s creamy-smooth
2.5-litre straight-six that produces 170bhp and 245Nm, driving the rear wheels
via 5-speed auto transmission which makes it good for 0-60mph in 9.3 seconds
with a top speed of 140mph and 30mpg economy.
Being an E39, it has that wonderful combination of superb ride
quality and sports saloon handling, qualities that made the E39 5-Series
virtually impossible to beat in group tests of the period. These cars are
amazingly quiet and comfortable and are ideally suited to long-distance touring.
Supplied with a V5C recording two former
keepers, it has an MOT until November 2026 and comes with all its original
handbooks plus a spare set of keys. It also comes with a nice personalised
number plate, S5 CGG, which it has worn since the Griffiths family acquired it
when it was just 10 months old (the original number was S778 DTX and it was
presumably a demonstrator or BMW management car when new).
As you can see in the photos, this BMW is exceptionally clean and
tidy for its year/mileage and has been starting instantly and driving very
nicely as we have moved it around on site.
