Smart
example of Porsche’s ubiquitous mid-engined roadster; desirable late manual
in Zenith Blue Metallic; exceptional value for money
Introduced
in 1996, the Porsche Boxster (986) helped revitalise the marque, offering a
mid-engined sports car with the balance and performance expected of Porsche at a
more accessible price. Its handling, flat-six engines, and everyday usability
made it an instant success, and it remains one of the best-value modern
classics.
Being a later 2004 example, this smart 2.7 manual, finished in
striking Zenith Blue metallic, benefits from the desirable upgrades introduced
in the 2002 facelift, including revised headlights, sportier bumpers, and a
glass rear screen with wind deflector.
Mechanical refinements and
continued development of the flat-six engine make these later cars particularly
well regarded for reliability, performance, and everyday usability, with many
enthusiasts considering the final production years among the most desirable of
the 986 range.
Being sold only due to lack of use, this Boxster presents
as a well-maintained example of the breed, with numerous invoices on file for
maintenance and upgrades, as well as 12 service stamps at regular intervals,
five from Porsche themselves.
Work carried out over the years, includes
replacement brake pads in 2017, suspension components, routine servicing, and
the fitment of a sports exhaust, believed to be by Dansk, with supporting
paperwork. Currently showing 108,793 miles and having had a reasonable eight
owners from new, including our vendor, the car’s MOT is valid until August,
allowing the next owner to enjoy it over the summer.
The desirable Zenith
Blue paintwork has aged well, showing only minor imperfections consistent with
the age and use of the car, with no major dents or scratches to note.
The
suitably sporty black leather interior also presents well, with no rips or
tears, and the electric hood operates correctly. Our vendor advises that the
alloy wheels were fully refurbished and powder-coated in gun-metal grey. While
no invoice is available, their excellent appearance speaks for itself,
complementing the sports exhaust and giving the car a more purposeful, dynamic
character.
The car was even optioned with the rare Bose sound system from
factory, a particularly high-spec example. Unfortunately, the headlight washer
covers are missing but are readily available and appear straightforward to fit.
In summary, this Boxster appears a smart and desirable example of the
breed, ready to enjoy over the summer. Finished in a sought-after colour and
benefitting from good history, cosmetic improvements, and sports upgrades, it
represents tremendous value for money.
