1949 Fordson Major
Tractor; 4,380cc Diesel; showing just two owners from new; repainted a few years
ago; alleged to have had very little use mainly for PTO and pulley belt
work
Offered for auction is this
charming 1949 Fordson Major tractor, a fine example of one of Britain's most
recognisable agricultural machines. Finished in its traditional blue and orange
colour scheme, the tractor presents well following a repaint carried out by the
current owner a few years ago to original
specification.
Showing just two owners from
new, this Fordson Major has been in the vendor's ownership since June 2010. The
vehicle appears to have been first registered for road use in April 2010,
although this may indicate re-registration following a period off the
road.
Powered by the robust 4,380cc
diesel engine, the vendor believes the tractor has seen very little agricultural
field work throughout its life, instead being predominantly used for PTO and
belt pulley duties. This lighter workload may help explain the tractor's
well-preserved nature.
The tractor was running and
driving at the time of photography and videography, demonstrating that it
remains an operational and usable example. Combining practicality with
considerable nostalgic appeal, this Fordson Major would make an excellent
addition to a collection of vintage agricultural machinery, a show exhibit, or a
participant in road runs and heritage events.
A wonderful
opportunity to acquire a well-presented and increasingly sought-after classic
tractor with low ownership and an interesting history.
