Showing only 59,866 miles; advisory-free MOT valid until April 2027;
fastidious owner has undertaken a program of improvement and sympathetic
restoration; a ready to use classic with room for all the
family!
This is a very clean and tidy example of the
Triumph Dolomite 1850 HL, featuring the lively 1,854cc petrol engine mated to a
four-speed manual
gearbox.
Interestingly, the first owner specified the car without the
optional overdrive, as its intended use was simply for local trips,.
to
compensate for the lack of overdrive a different size differential is fitted in
the back axle Finished in cream with a wonderfully preserved brown velour
interior, the cabin presents in excellent condition, as do the headlining and
dashboard, giving the car a remarkably fresh and original feel for its
age.
The Triumph
Dolomite 1850 HL sits within one of Triumph’s most important model families.
Introduced in 1972, the Dolomite was designed to give British Leyland a refined,
sporting saloon to compete with increasingly sophisticated European rivals. The
1850 HL, positioned near the top of the range, offered the smooth and willing
1,854cc slant-four engine, rear-wheel drive, crisp handling and a
notably well-appointed interior.
It
quickly earned a reputation as one of the most capable compact saloons of its
era, blending practicality with understated sporting character. Today, it
remains highly regarded among enthusiasts of classic Triumph saloons for its
charm, drivability and strong club support.
The current V5C shows only two former keepers,
and the car has been in the caring custody of the vendor since 2018. During this
time, the fastidious owner has undertaken a program of improvement and
sympathetic restoration, with rusted metal professionally replaced — the removed
sections even retained in a bag in the boot as evidence of the work.
No
detail has been overlooked; this is clearly a much-loved and carefully maintained
Dolomite, cherished by an enthusiastic custodian who likes his cars in proper
order.
The car
benefits from an advisory-free MOT valid until April 2027, and
the odometer now shows only 59,866 miles. The paperwork is exceptionally
comprehensive, with invoices covering virtually the car’s entire life, along with brochures,
handbooks, photographs, and every old MOT certificate, all neatly arranged into
five folders of information — a treasure trove for any enthusiast
of British sporting saloons.
It also features a towbar, which the vendor has
used to pull a small period caravan to classic-car shows, adding to its charm and
usability. Driven to the sale and starting sweetly and driving exactly as
expected for the photographs and video, it performs with the smoothness and
character that made the Dolomite such a rewarding and distinctive
model.
A ready
to use classic with room for all the family!
