1971 Triumph, first registered
in March 1971 and fitted with the desirable 2,498cc engine and manual
transmission. Showing just four former keepers, this example was originally
finished in Maroon before being repainted Yellow in 1995, complemented by a
black leatherette interior.
The vehicle was taken
off the road in 2005 and has remained in dry storage for almost all of the time
since then. In approximately 2019, according to the family, the car was briefly
returned to the road and was in running order. However, having been mostly
unused for many years, we have managed to get the car running under its own
steam and posted a video on the description but prospective purchasers are strongly
advised that a full recommissioning programme should be undertaken before any
return to road use.
The bodywork shows signs of
rust in areas which will require attention in due course, and the clear PVC
panels in the hood have come away from the roof. However, these points do not
detract from the car's overall appearance or its potential as an appealing
restoration project. With relatively few former keepers and a desirable
specification, this Triumph offers an excellent opportunity for enthusiasts
looking to return a classic British sports car to its former
glory.
