Three door Escort Ghia
RS2000 Recreation Project; loads of original parts included; great project car
with some of the bodywork already carried out
Offered for auction
is this 1979 Ford Escort Ghia RS2000 Recreation Project, first registered in
December 1979. This genuine UK-supplied car was originally a four-door Ghia with
a 1,599cc engine and is recorded as yellow on the V5. The current owner has held
the vehicle since April 2023, and it has had 14 former
keepers.
The Escort has been partly
converted into a two-door RS2000 recreation using correct new rear panels and a
pair of second-hand two-door doors. Further work is required, including welding
to the driver's side and finishing work to the passenger side, offering an
excellent opportunity for an enthusiast to complete the project to their own
specification.
Included with the sale is an
extensive collection of desirable parts, including RS2000 brown fishnet front
seats with a brown Ghia rear seat, original clocks with rev counter, a rare
RS2000 driver's door mirror with internal adjuster, excellent original
round-headlight grille, four steel RS wheels, Type 9 five-speed gearbox,
one-piece prop shaft, Bilstein front struts, World Cup front crossmember, and
both 1.6 and 2.0 Pinto engines with associated
components.
Please note this vehicle was
recorded as a Category C insurance loss in October 2009. It subsequently passed
a VOSA Vehicle Identity Check on 19 January 2010, with the V5 stating:
"Substantially repaired and/or accident damaged: identity checked on
19/01/2010."
A genuine UK Mk2 Escort with
an excellent range of RS2000 components, this project offers an exciting
opportunity to create a desirable RS2000 recreation.
